Science fiction
(sometimes referred to as sci-fi or merely SF) is a type of speculative
fiction which typically deals with creative and innovative concepts like
innovative science and engineering, space exploration, time travel, parallel
universes, and extraterrestrial existence. It's been known as the"literature
of ideas", and frequently explores the possible consequences of social,
scientific, and technological inventions.
Science fiction, whose
origins go back to early times, is linked to horror, fantasy, and superhero
fiction, and comprises several subgenres. Nevertheless its specific definition
has been contested among writers, critics, and scholars.
